LSU-Mississippi State Prediction

LSU finally got burned by its sluggish starts, which had become more prevalent in recent weeks. The Tigers know they have to be stronger from the opening tip, especially in a road game against a decent opponent. Mississippi State has struggled on the road, but the Bulldogs snagged a huge win in Oxford against archrival Ole Miss to cancel out a home-court loss to the Rebels earlier in the season. MSU now needs to back up that win with another victory against LSU. If Mississippi State can grab this game, its NCAA Tournament prospects will brighten considerably. If it falls short, it will likely need to grab a high-value win later in the season. MSU will have its chances, but no one should want to be in a must-win situation against Kentucky or Tennessee. LSU will win here. LSU 82, Mississippi State 80. (Matt Zemek)

This game tips off at 8:00 PM CT (9:00 PM ET). TV: ESPN2.
