Scouting Report

Kentucky (14-4, 5-1 SEC) most recently defeated Georgia 89-79 on Tuesday in Lexington. In that game Kentucky built a 20-10 lead midway through the first half but that lead was cut to 41-35 by halftime. Georgia pulled to within three with at 55-52 with 13:09 remaining in the game. The Cats then went on a 17-9 run and took a commanding 72-60 lead with 7:39 to play. The Wildcat lead would never go below eight points after that run. Ashton Hagans led Kentucky in scoring with 23 points. Anthony Edwards and Rayshaun Hammonds co-led the Bulldogs with 16 points each. UK is averaging 75.7 points per game so far this season. Nick Richards leads the Cats in both scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). The other players also average at least 13 points a game including Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey. Kentucky as a team is shooting 46.4% from the field, 31.6% from 3-point range and 76.7%.

Texas Tech (12-6, 3-3 Big 12) The Red Raider’s most recent game was a 65-54 loss at TCU on Tuesday. Most of Tech’s wins have come against lower tier division I teams, however, Texas Tech defeated Louisville on earlier this season at a neutral site. Jahmi’us Ramsey leads the Red Raiders in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game. Davide Moretti and Kyler Edwards also average in double-digits. Those three players have combined to make 98 3-point shots. Chris Clarke leads Tech in rebounding pulling down almost eight per game. As a team, Tech shoots 44.3% from the field, 32.9% from three, and 75.7% from the line.

This is a game Kentucky should be able to win this game on the road. Tech is a very good shooting team though. Especially from the line and 3-point range. UK will need to play solid defense and not allow wide open shots from downtown. They have the ability to do that.
