Auburn-Vanderbilt Prediction
The Vanderbilt Commodores keep coming close to winning their first SEC game of 2019, but close doesn’t bring comfort or relief. The exquisite problem for Vanderbilt here is that while Auburn would have needed this game regardless of other circumstances, the Tigers now need this win even more after stumbling at home to Ole Miss. The Rebels were a thorn in the side of the Tigers this year, sweeping the two-game series. Auburn now has to avoid a loss at Vanderbilt if it wants to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes in reasonably good shape. Auburn’s backcourt was terrible in the Wednesday night loss to Ole Miss at home. It is hard to imagine that same backcourt playing poorly enough that the Tigers will fall short here. Vanderbilt’s offense is also limited to the point that no one should expect an upset. Auburn 77, Vanderbilt 66. (Matt Zemek)
