Auburn-Mississippi State Prediction

The scent of desperation sits in the air in Starkville, Mississippi. The Auburn Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs badly need a quality win to reshape the direction of their respective seasons. Both teams recently lost to Kentucky. Both teams have not been nearly as convincing or well-rounded as many observers thought they would be this season. Auburn isn’t getting nearly enough overall production from its frontcourt, and has struggled with shot selection for a large portion of the season. Mississippi State has been unimposing on defense – too many opponents have gained a noticeable comfort zone against MSU at the offensive end of the floor. Ben Howland teams, if they are playing well, put down the clamps. Which version of each team will show up? Your guess is as good as mine. It will be a nail-biter at The Hump. Mississippi State 73, Auburn 72. (Matt Zemek)
