Arkansas-Vanderbilt Prediction

This is it. This is not the last SEC regular-season game for the Vanderbilt Commodores, but it is their last best chance to grab an SEC win and avoid going 0-18 in league play. The insane aspect of Vanderbilt’s futility in SEC basketball this year is that the defense has genuinely been very good. VU hasn’t been a dominant defensive team, but it has played a lot of games in which it has held opponents in the mid-60s or lower. Vanderbilt keep playing hard and continues to put forth great effort. Usually, an aberrationally good shooting performance or a huge individual scoring display will emerge on one or two nights to lift a bad offensive team to victory, but it just hasn’t happened. Vanderbilt led Arkansas in the final minute in Fayetteville, but the Hogs hit a clutch three-pointer to win. This will be close, but you know how this ends. Arkansas 62, Vanderbilt 60. (Matt Zemek)
