Alabama-Vanderbilt Prediction

Almost, but not quite. That has been the refrain for Vanderbilt sports fans for a very long time – well, not in baseball or tennis, but certainly in men’s basketball. Another VU attempt at an elusive SEC win fell just short earlier this week in Fayetteville, as a late Arkansas dagger rescued the Hogs. The game was encouraging for Vanderbilt in that the team is clearly still playing hard for Bryce Drew. The depression which set in after the blown lead against No. 1 Tennessee blanketed VU like a thick layer of fog for two weeks, but it seems that depression has finally lifted. Alabama has been a bad SEC road team, so this is not a layup for the Crimson Tide. Nevertheless, it just doesn’t seem wise to pick Vanderbilt to win outright. The Dores must operate under that burden of proof. Alabama 73, Vanderbilt 67. (Matt Zemek)
