Alabama-Arkansas Prediction

Alabama, like Florida, sits squarely on the bubble. The Crimson Tide would not become an NCAA Tournament lock if they win at Arkansas, but a victory would definitely move the needle in the right direction. It would represent a small piece of insurance if the Tide lost their first game at the SEC Tournament. What is inconvenient for Bama here is that the downside of a loss is greater than the upside of a win. Arkansas is an NIT team – below Alabama in the overall bubble pecking order – so a loss would diminish Bama’s resume more than enhance it. Bud Walton Arena is not the intimidating place it once was. Alabama will be desperate for a win, and though it has been unreliable of late, it’s not as though Arkansas inspires more comparatively more confidence. Don’t expect a quality game… or Arkansas to make clutch plays. Alabama 62, Arkansas 61. (Matt Zemek)
