Scouting Report
LSU (20-10, 11-6 SEC) continued its second half of conference play spiral losing at Arkansas 99-90. Mason Jones led the Razorbacks with 36 points while Skylar Mays of LSU paced the Tigers with 28 points. Arkansas won this game at the line scoring 36 points there on 54 free throw attempts compared to LSU’s 17 made on 23 attempts.
Georgia (15-15, 5-12 SEC) fell to Florida 68-54 on Wednesday night in Athens. Keyontae Johnson paced the Gators with 18 points. Johnson also pulled down 11 rebounds to complete a double-double. Georgia’s Anthony Edwards topped the Bulldogs with 14 points. UGA had double as many turnovers as the Gators (16-8). This was significant because it provided the Gators with more offensive possessions enabling the Gators to get more shots and subsequently more made baskets than Georgia.
This is the LSU senior’s final home game. The Tigers are the SEC’s second highest scoring team (80 ppg). Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are next to last in scoring defense (75.4 ppg). Coming off a loss LSU’s players should be well aware of the importance of winning this game. Georgia is loaded with outstanding young talent like Anthony Edwards (19.8 ppg). The trouble is the “young” part. LSU should win this game fairly easily but the Tigers can’t afford to overlook UGA.
