Scouting Report

This is a key SEC matchup between two teams that still have a shot to make the NCAAs. South Carolina (17-11, 9-6) is on stronger ground for an NCAA bid than Bama. After a good start the Tide has let just too many games slip away with their terrible defense. Bama needs to win out the regular season and then win at least two in the SECT to have a shot at making the national tournament. They do have a decent NET ranking but that’ll only take you so far. You have to have those wins too. After the game with South Carolina, the Tide gets Vandy at home and then travels to Missouri to complete the regular season. It’s possible to win out but they have to get by a strong South Carolina team first. The Gamecocks are fourth in the SEC in 3-point shooting defense so that doesn’t bode well for Bama. The Tide has made 309 3-point attempts which is 80 more than the second place team in made 3-pointers, Vandy. South Carolina is a team that can win road games. They’ve won games at Virginia, Texas A&M and Arkansas to name a few. Look for the Gamecocks to shock the Tide in Tuscaloosa.
