Texas A&M-Auburn Prediction

Don’t be fooled by Auburn’s low rating. They are being penalized for playing teams that happened to be very bad this season including Illinois-Chicago, Chicago State and others. Their RPI will start moving up once they get some SEC series under their belt. A ranked Texas A&M team visiting this weekend is a good opportunity to fix the weak schedule. Auburn is the best hitting team in the SEC but they are middle of the pack in ERA (2.80) which does seem concerning with the cupcakes they’ve faced. Take these stats with a grain of salt though. Basically, for the SEC, these pre-conference games are like a bunch of mid-week games. Coaches are trying out new players to see who can carry the load. This series is hard to pick. We do know there will be two outstanding pitchers involved in this one with Tanner Burns (Auburn) and Asa Lacy of Texas A&M. A&M brought in a ton of JC players so they are still jelling together. Auburn should win this series 2-1 but it’s probably more like a tossup. It’s hard to win in Auburn though, home of the best heckler in the SEC. Oh, but there won’t be fans at games.
