SEC Baseball Power Poll: May 6

BASEBALL POWER POLL

Only two weekends of series remain in the SEC Baseball regular season. Here is this week’s SEC Baseball Power Poll.

There wasn’t much shuffling in this week’s SEC Baseball Power Poll. Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Georgia and Mississippi State have positioned themselves well for possible NCAA National seeds which means the opportunity to host for the first two weekends of the NCAA baseball tournament. Ole Miss could also move into this group with a strong finish to the regular season. LSU’s situation is more difficult but the Tigers will likely be in the NCAA and host for the first round if they win some ball games down the stretch.

Missouri, Texas A&M and Auburn all are still in the running for an NCAA bid and possibly hosting in the first round. They’ll need a strong regular season finish and have some work to do in the SEC Tournament.

Tennessee and Florida both probably need to win out the regular season and do some damage in the SECT to make the big tournament.

South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky are all pretty much battling to get into SEC Tournament. Two of those three probably won’t make the tourney barring some kind of absolute nose dive by Florida and/or Tennessee and a miraculous finish by one or more of the current bottom three. You never know.

Getting into the SECT is important for these teams because it provides more experience and practice opportunities for these developing programs.
