As we head down the stretch in 2019 SEC baseball conference play there are three groups of teams that have emerged. Here is this week’s SEC Baseball Power Poll.
Group A consists of Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU. These six teams are on glide path to an NCAA bid. If they take care of business they’ll be in the NCAA. The magic number of conference wins to get an NCAA bid is 16. An 8-1 or 7-2 finish to the conference season could mean being a top eight national seed in the NCAA.
Group B consists of Missouri, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, and Auburn. These teams will need a strong finish (6-3 or better) to get in the NCAA. Winning the SEC tourney or making it to the championship game could help them get in. Missouri and Texas A&M are in a little better shape and might defy this logic.
Group C consists of Alabama, Kentucky and South Carolina. These three will need a miracle to get into the NCAA. One of these three will make the SEC Tournament. Then that team must win the conference tourney to get to the NCAA.
