Tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth inning, Vanderbilt’s JJ Bleday and Ethan Paul hit back-to-back home runs to put the Commodores ahead of Kentucky for good. The Vandy Boys went on to win 7-4.
Vanderbilt improves to 45-10 (23-7 SEC). The Commodores will be the No. 1 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. Vandy will get a first day bye and play on Wednesday. Kentucky did not qualify for the SEC Tourney because South Carolina defeated Mississippi State 10-8.
