Georgia-Tennessee Series Prediction

This tight-knit series has seen Tennessee win the last two to take a 15-14 lead since 1992. Georgia won nine of the 11 series between 2008-18. Prior to that, the Volunteers won 11 of 16 between 1992-2007. There’s only been one series sweep in the last 10 seasons and Georgia owns it in 2015 in Knoxville. In the 19 years between 1992-2010, there were 13 series sweeps with Tennessee getting 10 and Georgia three. The Vols own a 46-38 lead in regular-season conference games played in the last 29 seasons.

Georgia is 5-7 since starting SEC play 8-4. UGA has dropped three of their last four series but do have a pair of road conference series victories over South Carolina and Alabama this season. They need only two more league victories to secure their third non-losing conference record in the last four seasons, a feat last accomplished between 2008-11.

Tennessee suffered its first series defeat at Kentucky but did salvage the series finale to become the fourth team in conference history to post 20 league wins after eight weeks
of play. It is also the fifth time the Volunteers have won 20 SEC games (2021, 1995, 1994, 1993). The school record for SEC wins is 24 set in 1994. The Vols look to complete a perfect 5-0 series record at home for the first time. Its only other perfect home series record came in 1994 when it went 4-0. It is the sixth time in the last 30 seasons UT has won four SEC home series (2022, 2005, 2003, 1997, 1996, 1993). (Source: SEC)

This is a huge SEC baseball series. Well, huge for Georgia but really also an important series for the Vols. Despite the two losses to Kentucky, the Vols are still a shoo-in for at least a No. 1 or No. 2 national seed. If Georgia could pull out a pair of road wins over the Vols it would greatly enhance the Bulldog’s seeding in the NCAAs. I can’t see the Vols losing two straight series. I imagine they’ll be bouncing off the walls for Georgia. They slept walked last weekend in Lexington. I believe Georgia can win one of these three but maybe not.

Tennessee 2 wins, Georgia 1 win
