Ole Miss-LSU Series Prediction

LSU has won 20 of the last 29 series, but Ole Miss has crept back with three series victories over the last five seasons. The Tigers have won 13 of the 14 series in Baton Rouge since 1992. The lone Rebel series win in Baton Rouge in that span came in 2019. The previous Ole Miss series victory in Baton Rouge came in 1982. There hasn’t been a series sweep in the last 10 seasons with Ole Miss recording the last one in 2010 in Oxford. LSU’s last series sweep over the Rebels came in 1997 in Baton Rouge. The Tigers own a 51-36 lead in regular-season conference games over the last 29 seasons.

Ole Miss is coming off a home sweep over Missouri which snapped a three-home series losing skid. The Rebels have won four of their last six conference games since starting 6-12. After winning the first two (Auburn and Kentucky), they have dropped their last two road series (South Carolina and Arkansas) after winning the first two (Auburn and Kentucky). A series victory at LSU would give Ole Miss three SEC road series wins for the first time since 2014. The last time the Rebels were 10-14 was 2000.

The Tigers has won its last three series and is 7-2 since going 7-8 in the first half of the SEC schedule. The Tigers have won their last two home series (Missouri & Georgia) and are coming off their third conference road series triumph of the season at Alabama. Over the previous 10 seasons, LSU is 35-13-1 in SEC home series. They need one more league win to guarantee a non-losing conference record for the 27th time in the last 32 seasons. (Source: SEC)

LSU looks like the clear favorite in this series. The Tigers are markedly better in both pitching and hitting. I’m not sure what happened to Ole Miss. D1Baseball had them No. 1 in the nation at one point. That’s a distant memory now for the Rebels. I believe LSU will win this series but Ole Miss could ride the momentum of their sweep of Missouri and pull one win off.

LSU 2 wins, Ole Miss 1 win
