Tennessee-Florida Series Prediction

Tennessee has won 3 of the last four meetings, including the last two, to cut Florida’s series advantage to 16-13 since 1992. The Gators reeled off eight straight series wins between 2009-16 after the Volunteers won five straight between 2004-08. Florida last swept Tennessee in 2011 in Gainesville, while the Vols secured their last sweep in 2001 also in Gainesville. The last 14 series in Gainesville have been split at 7-7.

Tennessee has won all five series this season and puts its eight SEC road series win streak on the line. The Vols are the sixth team in SEC history to start 14-1 and the first since Vandy in 2013. The 1951 Tennessee team owns the best mark with only one loss at 16-1. The Vols have allowed 12 or less runs in each SEC series.

Tennessee’s three-game lead in the overall SEC standings is the first at the halfway point since 2008 when Georgia (12-3) held a three-game lead over Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina & Tennessee (9-6).

Florida sits at 6-9 in the league standings for the second time in the last three seasons. Over the last eight seasons, Florida has a significant home field advantage, winning 30 of their last 37 SEC series, including six of their last seven. After starting conference play 3-7, the Gators have won three of its last five. (Source: SEC)

Tennessee continues to roll but things caught up with them last week against Alabama. They now have a loss but probably have the ability to win out the rest of the conference season. I think Florida may steal one this week from Tennessee.

Tennessee 2 wins, Florida 1 win
