Arkansas-Mississippi State Prediction

This is a big matchup between two teams that have done really well the past few years. State, schedule wise, has played a pretty tough lineup so far. They just won two against top 5 Texas Tech in Biloxi, MS. Earlier they took two of three from a ranked Long Beach State team out in California. It’s hard to win in California if you are an SEC team. Just ask Vandy who this season has lost 4 of 6 on the West coast, all by one run in games umped by Pac-12 umps. Arkansas’ schedule so far is less impressive. They did play Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor in Houston but lost all three. Like the Pac-12 comments for MSU and Vandy, it’s just hard to win on the road against a team that has its own conference umps calling a game. Arkansas is in the top tier of the SEC hitting wise but among the bottom four teams in the conference in ERA. Mississippi State’s hitting is near the bottom of the SEC while the Bulldog’s pitching is middle of the pack. Justin Foscue leads State in batting hitting near .350. Heston Kjerstad and Christian Franklin are both hitting well at over .400 for the Hogs. This is another tossup series at this early juncture in the season. You go with the home team on a tossup. Mississippi State wins the series 2 games to 1.
