Not really shocked by this as all the other conferences have been trending this way. The only question now is if this 10 game slate - if ratified - will even be able to go ahead.
A conference-only slate allows for flexibility and for all games to feature a uniform testing protocol. The number of games, 10, is seen by many in college football as a potential minimum requirement to compete in the College Football Playoff this year, though that number is likely to fluctuate according to the impacts of the virus.
This is interesting. If it was next two scheduled cross conference games (as some had predicted) it would have added LSU and Ole Miss to the Cats slate. Now it is a little more ambiguous but obviously it would be good to avoid one (both) or LSU and Bama. I'd fancy us against anyone else.
