The league now has 18 members stretching from Boston and Miami to the Bay Area.

Good luck with that.

One Vanderbilt-related note about this...VU now has an ACC opponent on the schedule for every season between 2023 and 2029, and 2032 and 2033:

2023 Wake Forest
2024 VT, SMU
2025 at VT
2026 NC State
2027 at Stanford
2028 SMU, at NC State
2029 at SMU
2032 at Stanford
2033 Stanford

All I can say is Wow. Surely they will change the name of the conference, especially since tradition means so little anyway.

Seriously, Cal v Syracuse, such a tradition. Or Stanford v Virginia Tech. Terrific. Now the teams and their fan bases get to travel 2,800 mile multi-stop flights to attend these 3-hour-long heartfelt rivalry games. Money, money, money, thanks again ESPN and Fox for the further ruination of college sports, and to the universities for taking the rat bait.

And then there's the NIL spoilage...

Did the West Coast teams sign on?

I’m wondering if it’s only going to be football, baseball and basketball maybe softball. Stanford and I believe Cal fields a bunch of teams that the Both Coasts Conference doesn’t.

Stanford did say that it expects 22 of its 36 sports to see no or only minimal changes in scheduling, mostly because they compete in sports not offered by the ACC.

Plus the Great Lakes with Notre Dame -- and hey, the mighty Ohio River with Louisville and Pittsburgh.

And with this, I assume we have seen the final post suggesting that Vanderbilt should join the ACC.

The ACC is now the magnolia league that some will continue to push. Stanford upgrades the already strong academics, Cal too.
