Dores 2023 MVP

Post by geeznotagain »

What do you think?
EBJ, or
Shrek, or
Maldo?
A starter perhaps — Futrell, maybe Owen

Well my top picks are (1) EBJ (2) Shrek, and (3) Maldo. What do ya’ll think?

I'd probably still go Shreck, who was our only power hitter in a sport now dominated by power hitters. He was very consistent until the end of the season.

EBJ and Shreck were co in my book. Imagine what the would have been like without either of them…

EBJ, without a doubt!!! I believe we grew so accustomed to his phenomenal play that anything less than superhuman was unrecognized! Every team’s approach was to stop EBJ, including Florida’s watering down the batter’s box and first base to slow him down with the mud! His defense alone won a few games and he had some seriously clutch at bats even with his disappointing average.

Schreck without hesitaation. He was, as stated, consistent all year at both the plate and in the field.

Schreck has been in a prolonged slump. On May 2, he was hitting .364. He is now hitting .324, going 5 for 34 (.147) in the month of May. We really need him to break out of that slump during the post-season if we are going to have the success we are all hoping for.

And yet, he still led the team in batting average, home runs, and RBI. Also, to use your theory, Bradfield didn't hit anything for the first month and had a pitiful series at Florida.

5 for 34 is consistently bad.

So is 7-35 which is how Bradfield started. And remember, it is the whole season's body of work, not how you started or finished.

Bradfield goes 0-4 and scores 2 runs….that’s what an MVP can do for you!!!

We would not be in the discussion for a national seed without the contribution from Shrek. That said, EBJ imho is the team MVP. His defensive prowess is simply on another level

I was sitting in the middle of some Auburn fans last night, and they were complaining about how any ball hit in the air in center field or right center or left center was an automatic out. And he didn’t even make any super fantastic plays last night. He is the best defensive outfielder in the SEC. And # 2 isn’t close. Haven’t seen enough games outside the SEC to say for sure, but I’d be shocked if anyone in the country was better.
