Vandy at Auburn, 2/26/23, 3 p.m. (SEC Network)
Final regular-season game, and we're just one win short of last season's record of 13-17 going into the tournament. If I had to bet the house, I'd say we're looking at facing Texas A&M to open the tourney again.
If Auburn wins today (and they are a pretty solid favorite according to the NET game predictor), the Tigers will wrap up 10th place and a first-round tourney bye. Even if Florida also wins today, Auburn has the head-to-head tie breaker over the Gators.
If Vandy wins and Florida loses at Missouri, the three teams (Vandy, Auburn and Florida) will finish in a three-way tie and have 1-1 records against each other. The next step in the tie-breaking system is to go to the top of the standings and see which team did best against the higher ranked team. This is where Vandy falls out of the picture. Auburn has a win over Ole Miss, currently 4th in the standings, and Florida has a win over Alabama, currently tied for 5th. There is still some wiggle room in where Ole Miss and Alabama finish, so we won't know for sure who gets the 10th place finish until today's games are all over. But, I can't finagle any scenario where it's Vandy.
Still, if we wind up 4-12 and tied with Auburn and Florida, as far as I'm concerned we'll all be tied for 10th in the standings, then the tourney seedings will be handed out from there. That's the best positive spin I've got.

All things considered, a very good half. There were missed chances on both sides, but i am very happy. Heck, I was ready to take a 6-point deficit into half.

Yes. For a game i would have given virtually no chance to win at at tipoff, could have & should have won.

Exciting game, although very sloppy at times. Auburn's defense was really aggressive. Transition defense by VU was terrible when they were trying to stop the fast break. Confusing to see VU so bad at this! Auburn had 19 fast break points. Offensively, as the announcer said, Vanderbilt had plenty of opportunities. During their 11-0 run they had a great steal on D that led to perfectly executed O for a score on the other end. It felt like a true YES moment. Along with Bella's assist on Ciaja's game tying bucket. Good stuff!
Now go get 'em at the Tourney
