Turnovers pretty much tell the story of the first three games

Post by BrentVU »

Vandy did not turn the ball over in its first two games, and vs. Hawaii the defense got two scoop-and-scores. Then under rainy conditions in Nashville last Saturday, Vandy's offense turned it over three times, while Vandy's defense could produce no turnovers (Vandy did get one on a fumbled punt return).

One could make the case, if one wanted to, that Vandy can still be competitive in most games if it can hang onto the football and force the other team to cough it up. The rainy conditions seemed to contribute to Vandy's sloppiness Saturday, though it didn't seem to affect Sam Hartman and Wake nearly as much.

Fair point Brent. Frankly the defense did a pretty good job all things considered against a pretty good offense. Now that teams are playing us with a loaded box and in essence daring us to throw the ball, can we without turnovers? If we can, we can be better than expected. I'll tune in Saturday PM and see how we do...
