OK, the ranking came at one point from Kohl's Kicking, a camp for kickers, punters and snappers. Here is Brock's current profile with Kohl's, which rates him at No. 9 in the nation... still not too shabby. The profile includes some video, and he's got a live leg, for sure. Their rating gives him 5 stars as a placekicker and 4.5 stars (out of five) as a punter...

Since both Joseph Bulovas (transfer from Alabama) and Matthew Hayball (transfer from Florida Atlantic) will presumably be moving on after this season, it was important to sign both a reliable placekicker and punter in this year's class. Lea may have gotten two for the price of one in Taylor. It's not always best practice to have your placekicker doing punts (or vice versa), but occasionally you see guys who handle both very proficiently.

Here is a photo of this year's squad's kicking specialists:

Left to right:
47 - Wesley Schelling, junior long snapper
65 - Jacob Lurie, junior kicker, walk-on, transfer from Case Western
38 - Will Faris, sophomore kicker, walk-on
58 - Jared Elstein, fifth-year kicker/punter, walk-on
30 - Jared Wheatley, senior punter
36 - Joseph Bulovas, fifth-year kicker, handled placekicking duties last year
45 - Matthew Hayball, fifth-year punter, transfer from Florida Atlantic, odds-on favorite to win the punting job this fall

This goes back a ways, but Ricky Anderson was a heck of a PK and P.
