Re: Saturday surprise: Grad transfer signee
Interesting - on the one hand he would be exactly what we are looking for - an off guard who has shown the ability to score who can come in for a season to bridge the gap between Pippen's scoring and some of the talent we have coming in at the wing next season. OTOH, he doesn't appear to be able to shoot too well (60% from the line and 25% from three over two seasons) and played on a very bad team against a very weak schedule. So it is difficult to project how his numbers might translate against SEC competition (Vanderbilt played the 36th toughest schedule last season, UWGB played the 312th toughest).AuricGoldfinger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:37 am Emmanuel Ansong joins the Dores from Wisconsin-Green Bay. My guess is he is another player who will be in the mix for playing time at the 2 guard spot, but I don't know that he would necessarily be any better of an option than Lawrence or Shelby. But the fact that he is essentially a one year player makes this a decent risk, assuming better options were not available at this point (which is probably a pretty safe assumption).

Bodies are helpful for practice and as an insurance policy against injuries. As you stated, Jason, as a one-year player, this is a nice surprise and can’t hurt given the likely limited options with the trip abroad underway.

Plus he played DJ Harvey (of the former "coach") twice last season and outscored him a total of 20-3.
So we know who he IS better than.
