Each game from here on out is critically important, but some more than others, right? We must beat all the teams left on our schedule tied or below us, if we do we are in great shape for the SEC tournament.
Seeding rules for tournament are below:
Teams will be seeded No. 1 through No. 14 in the SEC Basketball Tournament bracket based upon the final regular season Conference standings. Teams that finished No. 1 through No. 4 in the final regular season standings shall receive first- and second-round byes and teams that finish No. 5 through No. 10 will receive first-round byes in the SEC Basketball Tournament.
Two-Team Tie
A. Won-lost results of head-to-head competition between the two teams.
B. Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).
C. Coin Flip By Commissioner
Three-Team Tie (or more)
A. Best winning percentage of games played among the tied teams (Example: Team A is 3-1, Team B is 2-2 and Team C is 1-3 â Team A would be seeded highest, Team B second-highest and Team C lowest of the three).
B. Best winning percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).
C. If two teams remain, coin flip by the Commissioner.
D. If three or more teams remain, draw by the Commissioner.
The standings of this morning are pictured below. If we beat Missouri, Teas A&M, Alabama, Mississippi State Florida and Ole Miss - we would not play the first day and might have a really decent seed. One game at a time and if we can win a bunch, well...

Re: Why Missouri game is so important
Agreed that 6 wins would lock up a Bye. 5 wins (9-9) should be safe for top 10 as well. Only 4 wins among that group (barring upset of UT or Auburn) would put Vanderbilt on the north side of the bubble (8-10). A 3-4 record down the stretch (7-11) could have us looking at the tiebreakers.
Keep in mind that all of those teams have play each other, some games against the top teams (Aub,Ky,Ark,UT and even “lowly” Georgia which nearly knocked off Auburn yesterday.
Remaining games versus Aub/Ky/Ark/UT
MSU ... 2
FLA ... 3
LSU ... 2
A&M ... 1
ALA ,,, 2
SC .... 1
VU .... 2
MIZZ .. 2
MISS .. 2
GA .... 1

We have to come out hungry and aggressively against the tigers. "Must win" might put pressure on this young team, but..
Best for the team to remember it is only a game - so go out and have fun.

Re: Why Missouri game is so important
Missou is "must win" in the sense that they are the worst team left on our schedule and if we don't beat them then beating a lot of other teams you have listed seems less likely. I would be surprised if we don't be missou. Of the teams we have left to play in order of our ability to beat them, I would say Missou, aTm, at Ole Miss, UF, Bama, at MSU, at UT, at Auburn. 3-4 wins seems like the most likely scenario, but I can see a scenario where we pick off UF and Bama to get to 9 wins. Winning at MSU, UT and Auburn is going to be very, very difficult unless we get really hot from three, but conversely we could lose a winnable game if we go cold from three as well.charlestonalum wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 4:45 am We have to come out hungry and aggressively against the tigers. Chatman HAS to play to have a chance. Not counting on Robbins for anything down the stretch. Would be surprised if we win without Chatman(but thrilled if we did).
