Re: VU V BYU
Why is Pippen missing all these shots, including free throws?

Re: VU V BYU
The entire team is struggling now. Can't make a shot and turnover every possession.

Re: VU V BYU
Too many hot dog plays and not playing with a lot of smarts. Our guys have some ability but often don't seem to keep their heads in the game . Being outshot and badly out rebounded.
Re: VU V BYU
Solid effort tonight. QMB is getting better each game and Dezonie is becoming more and more comfortable. If we can get Robbins healthy in time for SEC play we’ll be competitive. Liam will force teams to protect the paint and allow our shooters more opportunities for open looks.

Re: VU V BYU
I was able to start watching at about 10 min to go in 2nd half. QMB impressed me with his rim D and some good rebounds. Pippen moved from 7 pts to 23 pts and took over when we needed a leader. Overall D was quick and active - we turned them over 19 times. On offense I thought we moved the ball well. BYU is a good team and moves the ball well and they were shooting ok.
We got a 5 pt lead with 90 sec and they hit a 3. Pippen missed a backdoor layup and nobody to rebound! 2pt lead with 27 sec to go. After timeout - we foul (#6), then ball off Stute's foot, 16 sec and some righteous D and aggressiveness around the rim preserved the win! BYU got the shot from the lane but we made it happen and got the win. Credit to the coach and team!

Re: VU V BYU
Awesome game. Great win! And anyone who says Stackhouse isn’t coaching this team simply isn’t watching the games. BYU is currently number 22 in kenpom with an adjusted offense/defense efficiency ranks of 27 and 28 respectively. VU’s defense was suffocating for much of the second half; they forced 19 turnovers against a team that averages 12. Winning this game without Mann, who is one of the team’s best rebounders/paint defenders is nice. As stated, if they can get the full roster healthy, including Robbins, they can surprise some teams.

Re: VU V BYU
Certainly glad I didn't go to bed. Just went downstairs and watched on a bigger TV! For all those who earlier in the year said QMB was a wasted scholarship, you need to tell him you are sorry. The last 4 games he has been just short of great at the rim, taking charges, passing the ball, and scoring with that short, soft hook.
Pippen, who looked horrible early on, closed with the type game we expect of him. Stackhouse said in his comments that his earlier injury had hampered him and that now he has a slight hamstring pull. If it will make him play like he did the last 7-8 minutes, they need to pull the other one too.
Very good win tonight. Anyone know anything about Stanford? Would like to get some payback for that football game.

Re: VU V BYU
Stute's follow-up slam may have been a turning point, psychologically it seemed to really put some wind in our guys sails and a modicum of proof that the game was winnable. He had 14 points and 7 rebounds with only one turnover, 3 of 7 from deep (43%).
Without Stute and Thomas, the rest of the team was 3-14 from three (unofficially ...this is from an early box score) which is 21.4% and that is still a concern but proof positive that gritty hard nosed D can still get you a win over a quality opponent. Those guy were 10-2 with a blowout win over #12-ranked (at the time) Oregon.

OT: Kick Rule
It's my understanding that a KICKED BALL is to be called when the ball is INTENTIONALLY KICKED!
The ball went off Stute's foot. I get that. But he didn't kick the ball or even kick at the ball. It went off his foot.
By rule: Play On.
But the refs usually take the easy way out and blow the whistle. Ball back to the offense.

Stayed up to watch the whole game. Great effort, great win. As already posted, QMB continues to impress with his play…Stackhouse impressive in his coaching.
