But for coming to his alma mater a year ago, would Coach Lea be upcoming head coach of Notre Dame right now? Not downplaying my own team here but that's the kind of "what if" that one thinks about at the end of his career...
And what's the harder job to succeed in: first time head coach at Vanderbilt or at Notre Dame?

No reason to think otherwise. I'm pretty sure he would be. Its a fair question as to which job he would rather have. As someone who has lived away from home for over 20 years now, the allure is always there. Take with that that he will get ample time at Vandy to prove he is up to the task, and he may not feel bad about his choice. Tough to know, and interesting to think about.
