Watched most of Arkansas-Little Rock's Wednesday season opener against Missouri State. They wound up losing by 14 but it was a four-point game midway through the fourth when Little Rock's point guard (Caecedo) left the game with an injury, which seemed to disorient them. The point guard is a marvel. She's a 5'3 juco transfer who must have some bullet in her DNA. Quick on quick and almost impossible to guard one on one. Luckily, she's not a great shooter, and her lightning quick outside moves often lead her into tall timber where 5'3 doesn't work so well. She's fun to watch, though. Very disruptive on defense.
I'm not sure if she'll be able to play tonight. If she does, she's quite the drama queen because they literally carried her off the floor Wednesday night with what appeared to be an ankle/lower leg injury that kept her on the floor for more than five minutes.
Missouri State has been a Sweet 16 team two years in a row, so the fact A-LR hung with them for all but five minutes of the game is impressive. They're tough on defense. They're not that much bigger than us, but a couple of their 5'11-6'0 post players are strong and can jump. Vandy will have to grind on offense and do a great job on the boards.
The team is made up mostly of transfers, either from this season or last season.
ETA: Belmont won at Ole Miss last night by 12
Georgia beat Gardner-Webb 97-45. Ouch.

Re: Little Rock Hangs Tough With Missouri State
Thanks for the info - I'm very much looking forward to this game. It looks like a significantly bigger challenge, but hopefully having real game film to learn from will have helped our team improve over the past few days.
