I’ve never felt more pessimistic. We have a horrible team and a terrible staff.

Don't worry, the 25 three stars we are bringing in will put us over the top!

I’m not sure Lea could develop a skin infection much less a 3 Star into an SEC level player

I'm ready to fire Lea already. The last straw was when he punted on 4th and 2 near mid field down 24-3. Florida faked a punt against us in that area up 21 points and we can't go for it down 3 scores. I'm not sure he is even trying.

Again- he learned from Bobby Johnson. What did we expect?

You can’t make chicken salad out of chicken…. Give the man a minute. I am as disappointed as anyone, buts he’s already won 2 games which is the number I expected going in.

You didn’t expect to beat ETSU?
I mean, even if they were going to lose that game, I didn’t expect them to get blown out on their home field.

Trade it for CSU which was a surprise.

Ah! Of course. Fair enough.

I have to admit, I fell victim to thinking last week indicated some improvement and was reflecting positively on the coaches influence on this team. And then today, it seemed another step or two backwards after such positive reports around practice this week.

Right now, my mindset is every game will be like this the remainder of the season. This staff has their first full recruiting class, a full season of workouts and implementing their system as well as some administrative support so next season we will hopefully see some improvement. Realistically, we have two wait maybe 3 or more years to really see a change. I'm not sure James Franklin, Knute Rockne or Nick Saban would have fared much better this season given the talent deficit on this roster.

Well though we will never know-James Franklin would have won the SC game. And I daresay would have been able to do what was needed to beat ETSU.

I hope this staff can adjust themselves to what VU needs.

Depths of despair? Just forget about the game and make it a social event, like the people still partying at the tailgates along Natchez Trace well after kickoff, or the homecoming alumni who make a 10-minute foray into the stadium between Re-Union events. Game? What game?

I was unavoidably a little late arriving yesterday (entered stadium with about 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter) and walked down Natchez Trace, still so thick with tailgaters that it took me a while to walk through and I should have worn a mask. And then inside, deep in the second quarter, a group of alums with lapel stickers sashay in to seats near me, stay through the band's three halftime songs, and then sashay out.

Despair? What despair? Vandymaniacs just approach games differently. :?

And the early’70’s.

It changed (for a few years) when Steve Sloan started having some success in 1973.

Jimmy Frank, the offensive genius, was 1-9 on 2 point conversions yesterday....

No one ever accused Franklin of being an offensive geniu, but he’d have this tram on four wins so far with a chance to finish 5-7. Lea may achieve 5-7 by the time the west achieved Net Zero emissions, but it will be neck and neck
