We gave it to them with our "prevent" defense vs. their backup

Clark Lea can’t coach his way out of a paper bag.

No excuse for that crappy loss.

N-O E-X-C-U-S-E!

An ex-defensive coordinator allowed that to happen? Same prevent, no pressure "defense" all the way down the field. Yard after yard. Completion after completion. When the normal defense had shut them out since the 1st quarter? And you had a new QB in the game? Really? He had a minute 37 seconds left, and used only 59 seconds. Can you say "ineffective? I know you can ..

Up until that last drive by USC, the coaches had put together a game plan that gave us a chance to win. The players did well. We had the lead, and then it is like the coaches panicked and crumbled. Geese, pause, catch your breath, and don't just go away from what has been working. Our secondary is weak. 3 man rush will get no pressure. New USC QB in game...we give him all day to throw...hard to swallow this one.

When we kicked the field goal, I texted some of my college buddies “being up 6 isn’t going to matter when they run the kick off back”

Somehow this was more painful (than a kickoff return) even though I fully expected us to lose. Incredible. 75 yards in 0:59 with no timeouts… it’s like SC snuck a young John Elway or TB12 out there.

This staff thought we’d be happy with a close loss

You have the makings of a good relief pitcher.

My take on this is that we are a broken program right now. We just are. After that mass exodus last year we are left with SEC scraps. And yet, we were in a position to get an SEC win today. Even if the administration is “all in” on having a successful football program, this was going to be a monumental rebuild. We are going to hopefully have more of these opportunities in the next few years. But it’s going to be excruciatingly long before we’re consistently better.
