Re: Vandy-APSU Thread
Final: Austin Peay 7, Vandy 6. Hopefully this doesn't turn into last year in terms of the midweek struggles.
Re: Vandy-APSU Thread
Two obvious reasons we lost this game (when we shouldn't have).
1) Our pitchers couldn't throw strikes. Giving up 7 runs on only 6 hits over 10 innings is hard to stomach.
2) Inability to get runners home from scoring position. We left runners stranded on 2nd & 3rd several times, often with only 1 out.
Getting outscored 1-7 over the last 7 innings was tough to watch.

Re: Vandy-APSU Thread
For you (or anyone else) who watched the game --- any thoughts on whether Paul could possibly have made a play on the ball hit just past his glove in the 9th (to at least knock it down) or the ball hit hard, right at him, in the 10th (he seemed to be playing awfully deep; it was a hard shot, right at him, and he was unable to get an out). Those were key plays, about the only balls where there was contact in the last couple of unfortunate APSU at bats.vufan1 wrote:Two obvious reasons we lost this game (when we shouldn't have).

Re: Vandy-APSU Thread
In my opinion, I don't think Paul or Gonzalez had any shot to knock it down. It was a seeing eye hit. On the hard hit ball to Paul, it would seem that the play to second would be the correct play to make, especially as hard as it was hit. The runner had a great jump and it wasn't close. I don't know if throwing to first would have been a better option, but it was the first baseman running. From the middle of this game, you could smell a collapse coming. We had the bases loaded, I believe, 3 times and hit into 2 double plays and had our two best hitters make outs on the other one. As one fan noted, our bases loaded success is similar to the Preds power play success. I'd like to see what our bases loaded batting average is. Oh well, there's another game on Friday.
