Dort had some sort of injury.bernstml19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:04 pm It’s possible for us to have had a fun season and a slightly above average team. Bumped out of the NIT about where they were expected to be. Selection committee had it right. Next year will be interesting, but not necessarily better. What happened to Dort?

I commend Stack and the Team. 2 months ago to say it was bleak was an understatement. Today we played with half a team after a long season and we looked tired. But as I said the other day, this TEAM made watching VU Bball fun again

Re: Vandy-UAB Thread
Stack said in the post game interview that Dort was having issues with his foot again the past two days. He mentioned that Dort was available, but he had too bright of a future to risk reinjuring the foot after he battled the stress fracture. Cautious optimism that means he will return and Stack was simply taking the long view.
Questionable FT disparity and officiating tonight. However, they played tentatively and tired down the stretch. UAB earned the win.
Great season! Looking forward to more Memorial Magic next year. The waiting is the hardest part.

I think stack would protect Dorts career even if he knew he was transferring.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:45 pm Stack said in the post game interview that Dort was having issues with his foot again the past two days. For sure! I simply meant to counter the immediate assumptions that the reason he didn’t play was that he is gone. The way Stack talked about his future, it seemed like that future may be at VU. Here’s hoping, because he is certainly a keeper!Obvious wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:54 pmI think stack would protect Dorts career even if he knew he was transferring.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:45 pm Stack said in the post game interview that Dort was having issues with his foot again the past two days. We will find out pretty soon who all is leaving. Hopefully not many.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:56 pmFor sure! He actually changed his kicks 5-7 minutes or so into the game…he was slipping all over the place in the red ones …lime green FTW.

Re: Vandy-UAB Thread
The team just ran out of gas tonight. When you consider just how many games they played down the stretch ; often playing the full 40 in close games) into the SEC tourney and then right into the NIT while balancing Vanderbilt academics, it’s truly remarkable.
This team brought back the magic and did it with grace, class, and style. Forward ever be thy watch word!

Well said doubledore, I thought the same watching the game. It turned out to be one the most enjoyable home seasons in a long time.

Re: Vandy-UAB Thread
The announcers said that all UAB starters are seniors who previously played at power 5 schools (or something like that). Without taking away anything from our team, UAB was as good or better than advertised, in my view.

Re: Vandy-UAB Thread
UAB had 6 true seniors (last year of eligibility) and players who tranferred in from LSU, Ole Miss, Clemson and their coach had been SEC coach of the year several times. In other words, experienced well coached team that had beaten SC and Georgia more handily than we did when we had our full roster. So not unexpected loss but a remarkable run that will long be remembered. Hope we don't lose key players to portal. We are improving!

Re: Vandy-UAB Thread
Physical game which we should be used to playing. Fouls called were 15 for each team and 3 of ours were intentional in the last 30 seconds…..we can’t continue to cry about the officiating in every game we lose and some we win! When you shoot 31 3s and have no inside game, you’re not going to get many fouls called. Tremendous effort and great finish by a team who over achieved coming down the stretch…..good nucleus coming back!
