I'm just saying if they played in the SEC they would never make it anywhere. I respect our service academies but let's be honest, they don't recruit to win. They have another agenda more important.Levon wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:51 pmNot being the conversation doesn't make Army a bad team. They have a good program and they play good baseball. Not making mistakes will help inferior teams in match ups with superior teams. Give them some credit.Vandy187187 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:42 pmLet's be honest we have won 2 titles, we are a top perennial team. Army? They should not even be in the same conversation. Short swing, goes the other way, rockets a 2-run single past 3B. Jr's best AB of the season! 4-2 Dores, chance to add more.

Good points, I don’t disagree.Vandy187187 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:56 pmI'm just saying if they played in the SEC they would never make it anywhere. Re: Army Game 1
Bulger chops big hopper to 3B who makes a poor choice, tries to force Usain Bolt--errrrrr--Jr at 2nd. Safe all around. Jones follows with basesloaded RBI walk. 5-2 Dores.
Re: Army Game 1
Keegs walks, 6-2. Here's the biggest shortcoming for a program like Army, pitching depth. This is where VU should make a lotta money, against the back end of the Army pitching staff. And Kolwyk hits a perfect DP ball to SS, should be easy, but 2B drops the ball on the turn. Out at 2nd, 7th run in, Young up again.
Re: Army Game 1
Young flies out to deep left for 3rd out, but it was good swing, going with pitch and driving it. Encouraging inning at the plate for Mr. Young.
Re: Army Game 1
Army steals 2nd...easily...dude had a HUGE jump. Replay on tag on overslide, safe call is correctly upheld. 1 out, man at 2nd.

You could say that for a lot of Power 5 teams, too.Vandy187187 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:56 pmI'm just saying if they played in the SEC they would never make it anywhere. Re: Army Game 1
After leadoff single, Reilly strikes out the side. When he can consistently throw strikes, he's very tough. Gotta demonstrate he can do that for more than 3 innings.

Re: Army Game 1
I think he probably did slide off, as his arm would have to have been 18 inches longer to stay on the base, but you can call him out if there is no clear view.
Re: Army Game 1
The angles we saw weren't great, but it looked like he kept his left hand on the bag. But you're right, without definitive evidence you can't overturn...unless it's Vanderbilt vs anyone else on a fall Saturday afternoon
Re: Army Game 1
Diaz & Vaz each K'ed to end the 7th, but both were good ABs. Both fouled off several good pitches with controlled swings. Diaz was frozen on a good curve ball on the inside corner for strike 3, while Vaz swung under a similar curve out over the ate.
In 8th, Jr first-pitch swinging flies out to CF on another long swing.

Re: Army Game 1
Army leadoff single in 9th, steals 2nd. Easily beat yet another poor throw by Keegs, but this time it looked like runner did overslide and get tagged out. No replay.
Re: Army Game 1
Reilly still pitching in 9th, gets very friendly strike 3 call for 2nd out. Ball 4 on 75th pitch loads the bases (2 earlier singles). Where's Maldo?

I thought Army looked light years better than that Evansville team.Vandy187187 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:56 pmI'm just saying if they played in the SEC they would never make it anywhere. North Alabama upset Cincinnati today, so maybe they can give us a game if that one can be rescheduled but I don't see a hole in our schedule that would work.
Re: Army Game 1
Correction, the 3B was charged with an error. No hit, no RBIs. Still an excellent AB
