He wouldn't be the first one.

He may be a good player but he is not listed anywhere on ESPN high school ratings, not even a 2 star as well as I can tell. I did see where Texas A&M wanted him so maybe he is a good pickup.

Haters gonna hate.
This is a great addition to the freshman class.
6’6-6’7 combo guard who was the starting PG for the top-rated high school in the country.

Averaged 15.4 pts, 7.7 reb, 3.4 ast, 3.6 steals, and 1.4 blocks.

Kid has game and good length for the position.

247 has him a 3 star; about on par with the signees for the 2023 freshman class

I wouldn’t worry about that. ESPN has really slacked off in its coverage of high school recruits in recent years. These days they miss a LOT of players entirely and don’t have updated scouting reports on more than the top 100 or so. I’d rely more on sites like 247, which seems to regard him very highly. Also, as someone else pointed out, he was a key player on the #1 ranked team in the country. And I think he can contribute right away, while also showing a LOT of upside. I mean, a 6’6” wing who can guard three positions, penetrate, space the floor, AND has the potential to become a point guard? Are you kidding me? I’m psyched to have him on our team and as a student.

Looking at video (admittedly a small sample) is a right handed player who can finish with his left hand. Much more athletic than I had anticipated . If he buys into Stack’s system, his versatility will be a real asset.

Yep. This kid is a gem.
And I noted in the original thread about him from a few weeks back, the fact that he’s in an Apple TV show about basketball is an interesting secondary benefit. Any publicity is good publicity, right? More potential exposure for VU.

His offer list also included Big12 and Big Ten.

Paul Lewis was also a late commit last year without all the “stars” and hype of our higher profile recruits. His contribution as a backup point guard was a definite plus last year. I trust our staff with player evaluation more than the recruiting “experts” online.

Pippen wasn’t rated very highly. Neither was Jordan Wright or even Tyrin Lawrence. Recruiting stars can’t possibly factor in work ethic or heart.
