Women's Golf Tied 3rd after 2 rounds Auburn Regional

Post by DoreZag »

After Round 1 of the Auburn Regional our ladies had a 3 stroke lead. The top 6 teams in each regional advance to the NCAA championship. Vandy is currently ranked 6 in the country.

After Round two we are tied for 3rd and three strokes back of Duke. Currently, we are 9 strokes ahead of the sixth place teams. The top 6 advance to the NCAA Championships. At one point we had a 3 stroke lead on the field but our back 9 hurt us.

We're kicking serious ass early - 7 under after seven holes. 4 shot lead. Wow!

Ugh! We're having a terrible start to the back 9 just like yesterday in Round 2. We're down to 4 under par for the day and tied for 1st overall with an Even score. Sets up for an exciting finish.

We easily move to the NCAA Championships unless we have an epic Barcelona-type collapse.

Thanks for the update. Seems the only updates we get from VU twitter feeds are when VU does something well. I would like for them to do a better job of where competition stands instead of just cheerleading. BTW, I love the cheerleading!

Wow! The first few holes of the back 9 were pretty bad but we're 5 under the last five holes and are back in front by 1 stroke with a few holes left. We have two players in the Top 5 for individual honors. Quite the gut check!

Florida State and Vanderbilt tied for first and 10 strokes ahead of the field as we come down the stretch. Both FSU and Vandy are 9 under right now. How good is this? Duke and UVA who were 1 and 2 starting today are 4 and 3 over par (respectively), so Vandy and FSU have gained 13 strokes on the morning leader.

Vanderbilt finishing the final round a la Tiger Woods at the 2019 Masters. Duke and Virginia fading a la Greg Norman at the 1996 Masters. Vanderbilt will be the clubhouse leader but FSU still has 15-19 holes to play so they have lots of time to take the lead.

BTW, Tennessee had a really strong round today to slip into 6th place. The top 6 move on. UT shot 1 under today. Only four team are under par right now. Auburn is also in. Three of the six teams moving on are from the SEC. The other three are from the ACC - FSU, Duke and Virginia.

Vandy Women win Auburn Regional, have low medalist

Post by DoreZag »

Vandy goes big with an 8 under par day and wins the Auburn Regional with a 3 stroke victory over a late-fading Florida State team. Vandy's 280 composite was the low round of the tournament. Freshman Auston Kim wins low medal honors at 6 under and Morgan Baxendale shoots a cool 67 to finish T3.

Auston Kim is a star. All-SEC as a freshman and 6 top 10 finishes.
