Robert Harris
Is the Robert Harris who died in a car crash on I-65 yesterday, Vandy's Robert Harris?
Re: Robert Harris
Yes, that was Robert Harris who played at Vandy from 1976-79 and was the father of Brian and Andrew Harris who also played for VU in the last 10 years. He was a loyal alum/player who rarely missed a game. He was a pitcher from MBA who played a prominent role on some of Larry Schmittou`s last teams and Roy Mewbourne`s first team. Back then, Coach Schmittou recruited mostly local players and was pretty successful. He had players from MBA, Overton, McGavock, Maplewood, Hendersonville, Father Ryan.
Robert will be greatly missed among the Vandy baseball family.

Re: Robert Harris
Thanks for clarifying that. Such sad news. In addition to having played at VU, his son Andrew is the color commentator on the SEC Network Plus broadcasts. Brian is an assistant baseball coach at Tulane.DS2001 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 11:03 am Yes, that was Robert Harris who played at Vandy from 1976-79 and was the father of Brian and Andrew Harris who also played for VU in the last 10 years. Right. Just saw him out there this weekend. Hoping it wasn't him. Condolences to the family. RIP Robert Harris.

Tough news, Robert was a first-class human being in every way and had a strong heart for the Lord. Robert lost his wife to cancer about 12 years ago while the boys were both at Vanderbilt.
