Hmmm... Vanderbilt also played Syracuse in the Carrier Dome in 1991 (Gerry DiNardo's first season and first game)...

And Syracuse whipped up on both of them.

Amazing that it's been that long for them. Most SEC teams venture out across the country for non-conference games frequently, including Vanderbilt. The Commodores have played non-cons out of state at least once each of the last 5 years except for the pandemic year of 2020 when all SEC schools played only conference opponents. Big "intersectional games" were even more common before conference expansion, except apparently for the Gators.

maybe they should stay in the sunshine (etc.) state after all. it's a tough world out there.

I was at the game… Utah did a text job of how to utilize two qb’s with different skill sets. Impressive to watch.
