Chattanooga: Baylor's (Whit) Muschamp 'unflappable' on the field

Post by BrentVU »

VU 2024 QB commit Whit Muschamp (son of Will from Georgia) is No. 10 on the Chattanooga Times-Free Press's "Dynamite Baker's Dozen" top prospects in the Chattanooga area. He quarterbacked Baylor to a III-AA state championship last fall. The article about him includes these quotes:

"The first time I saw him throw a football was when he was in sixth grade, and it didn't take long to recognize he has a gift," Kimrey said. "He has elite accuracy, poise and instincts for the game."

Shortly after being named Baylor's head coach, Kimrey's cellphone rang with a message from Georgia co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, asking "Do you need a quarterback?"

The younger Muschamp had previously played for Kimrey at South Carolina's Hammond School -- taking over as the starter midway through his freshman year and helping that program win a state title -- which led Kimrey to immediately respond affirmatively to the texted question.

When asked to describe himself as a player, Muschamp used one work, "calm".

"It was incredibly important having Whit transfer in here to lead our offense," Kimrey said. "He makes elite throws with defenders barreling down on him. His greatest asset, other than the ability to throw the ball, is that his mindset is unflappable. Whether it's a good play or bad, you get the same guy on the next down."

Story includes a nice photo too...

P.S. Jeremy St.-Hilaire of McCallie is on the list as well; a story should be forthcoming in the next few days as the T-FP counts them down.
