It's always a tough draw when you see the bracket, but imagine how the other teams feel knowing their only way to the next round is through us. Looking forward to some exciting games next weekend.

If seeding were done perfectly, the #6 seed would have the most difficult path of the top 6 seeds, the #7 seed would have the toughest schedule of the top 7 seeds, etc.

six of the tourney teams are from texas (no particular surprise)....and eight from north carolina (nearly as many as the sec)! louisiana and alabama are both equal with california (four each) and three of the ca teams are in one regional. just sayin'.

I thought Committee Chair Cohen was talking BS.

First he says that Auburn (#19 RPI) got to host over Campbell (#13) because Auburn played more Top 50 RPI games. Doesn't mention that Auburn had a losing record in its 31 games versus Top 50 while Campbell was 9-5.

Then he says he would like to see regionals going to different schools -- Well, you had your chance right there!*

*Cohen, currently Auburn AD, recused himself from any discussions regarding Auburn's status in the NCAAT.

Cohen says that the committee is saddled with the RPI -- despite its flaws (so he says) -- and that is why some teams he considered deserving didn't get into the tournament.

And he tells us how PAC-12 is such a great conference and deserves several teams including Arizona ... which got in over UC-Irvine, for example. But Arizona was only 12-18 versus PAC-12 teams and UC-Irvine was 8-1 versus PAC-12 teams. (Unfortunately for UCI it's lone PAC-12 loss was to Arizona, but Cohen didn't mention that).

The RPI, flawed or not, dominated the interview ... but apparently the committee doesn't have to go strictly with the RPI, so why not just consider it one of the tools that is used?

His suggestion that the RPI should be more like the NET from Men's Basketball bothers me since the MBB Net gives so much weight to scoring margin. Do you really want to see more South Carolina versus Patsy-of-the-Week scores like 20-3, 17-1, 19-3, 19-1 and 20-3? The Southeastern Conference will rethink its current run-rule to allow teams to pile on the score versus non-conference opponents.

I suggest the NCAA give the committee latitude to award regionals (and down the ladder even at-large entries) to a more diverse (not mostly SEC/ACC teams) set of schools. Let them give some regional preference points to teams from the north and east if they wish. BUT DON'T let any formula that includes scoring margins be in play.
