Dores on the edge of elimination

Post by DS2001 »

Tied for 8th after 3 rounds.Illinois and Pepperdine are lapping the field. Simply have played terrible. They must finish 8th or better on Monday to move on to match play.
Coach Limbaugh must be livid over these last 3 rounds.

But should they get top 8, and I suspect a really good effort gets us there, it then goes to match play. Does that start even or would the top finisher of this aspect have an advantage going in to match play in a manner similar to the last tournament of the FedEx playoffs?

Looks like the front nine offers better scoring than the back nine.
I don’t think they’ve played terribly but they certainly haven’t hit a scoring streak yet. Yet being the key word. When you’re grinding and sit in position to advance that’s ok. Worst thing to do would be to become livid or start to press. The track record in this tournament format does not favor the likelihood of winning wire to wire. Illinois is playing great so if they can do it more props to them but VU has in prior years been caught in the match play section by good teams that finally found their footing. Only influence stroke play has on match play is the seeding.
Gordon Sargent starts playing like Gordon Sargent and the rest of the field will feel the pressure.

Teeing off at 11:50 Mtn time. Right now, they are 9th (due to tiebreaker). They must finish in the top 8 to move on to match play.
Will be a white knuckler day today. But if they do get into match play, they’ll be paired with Illinois or Pepperdine and I don’t think they can beat either one based on the past 3 rounds.
