The fact that Boki is being used here gives me hope that Owen and Ginther are fine.

I’m still a little nervous about using him so close to the regional - he has been very hot lately. But, of course, SECT championships don’t grow on trees - and here we are….

On the bright side, Boki’s first 5 pitches were strikes. But, Our pitchers need to stop grooving 0-2 pitches.

I hate “waste” pitches that aren’t even close - but why groove an 0-2?

Boki has good stuff today.

First inning wasn’t easy - but he gets out of it scoreless.

23 pitches.

LaNeve blasts a 3 run homer - gives us a 3-1 lead after 2.

Boki done after 2. Reilly is out there.

Boki threw strikes. But 45 pitches in 2 innings. Again, can’t use Reilly for too long.

I’d love to win this thing - but we can’t risk next week…

My guess is that no Vandy pitcher today goes more than 45 pitches and/or 3 innings.

When Reilly consistently throws strikes, he's Vandy's best pitcher.

Did not expect to see reilly. Hoping he plays the Zach King role - rough numbers but tons of talent and great stuff , settling into bullpen role and peaking at right time

Reilly hits 99 twice in the 3rd. And 98 once.

7 hits and we’re still in the third - I’d like to chase this pitcher. He has good stuff - a big, hanging mistake to LaNeve… but if we can get him out, they will be in the pen earlier than they want to be…

I will again say, the situational, two strike, leadoff and contact hitting have been much improved in Hoover.

Maldo the younger, Noland and Austin merit special mention.
I’ve been praising Vastine and Diaz for this recently - but they have company this week. 4-1 after 3 innings.

Notice how many more swings and misses you have against Reilly vs. Boki.

Vastine delivers a sparkler.

Reilly had really good stuff, but has gotten wild.

3 wild pitches score a runner who singled.

A two out, 2 strike wild pitch really hurts. The only consolation is that kid should have scored on the grounder to Vastine…

4-2 now.

Reilly blows them down in the 5th.

Still 4-2. Feels like we should have more. Sometimes that comes back to bite. I hope this isn’t one of those times.

I’d like to see a little small ball here. Build a couple more runs…
