I wonder if there are any stats to show that the pitcher's performance improves on the next batter after a mound visit. Could be, it's intuitive, but I'm skeptical. I'm guessing he gives up the homerun ball in any event. Why? (1) He's gassed, and (2) It's Vandy. I've been watching the Braves. And in the 7th inning the Braves pitcher gave up consecutive hits, followed by a mound visit, followed immediately by a 3rd hit. He was gassed. One plus of a visit of course is that it gives a reliever additional time to warm up. There's that.
