Playing for some marbles today

Post by charlestonalum »

Coach Corbin lay it out (from Tennessean): "It's important for our team (to win Sunday)," Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin said. "It's important for our psyche. It's important for everything. You get to a point right now where you lose a very emotional game (Friday) night, and today you weren't in it and you got a seven-inning game. ... That's what this sport is, you have these opportunities right here to sometimes define who you are. So we're going to find out."

it sounds like corbin feels that today's game is a truly pivotal one for his team, probably win (obviously preferable) or lose. at risk of overstating the obvious....this weekend has been a huge unwelcome helping of reality for the vandyboys with the potential to make or break them. go 2 l ut!! go 2 l!!

Welp. Doesn’t look like the team got the message today. Volunteers should thank us for turning their entire season around this weekend.

I've had this sinking feeling in my gut ever since it was 3-2 bottom of the ninth; 2 out, nobody on and 1-2 on the batter....

I have it on very good authority that several of Charleston's posts were pinned up on the bulletin boards in the Vols' locker room and, for good measure, the dugout too. 8-)

Baseball is a very funny sport. Teams get hot and cold at the drop of a pin, and Nelson is a hitters dream park.

Nevertheless, the past four games make one worry that our early SEC record WAS due to the lower level competition we faced.

The vibe is reminicient of the MSU final three games in Omaha a few years ago. I have faith in Corbs and will be very interested to see what he pulls out of his hat. A couple of well pitched games could go a long way. On the other hand if we continue to hit the way we have and TBA has to pitch a few more games...

Overarching all of this is that I'd rather be hot in late May and early June than right now.
