Re: Vanderbilt-Tennessee game thread
We were playing #6 team and beat them with hustle and coaching at the end. Not luck.

That was a really good shot you made against Ole Miss that time in the big dance.Vandy187187 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:49 pm
I would certainly love to see one with Manjon at the half court line with 10 seconds left after getting stuffed on all our attempts. 10 seconds is a long time. We blew this game with late game execution with 3 timeouts left.

I would love to know if that play was drawn up - personally I believe Manjon gets the credit for finding Tyrin. Looked like the play was for Manjon and he was doubled…
The refs “let them play” tonight. But giving us the extra .4 seconds was game altering. We got that shot off at .0001.

That kid not going in for the dunk was reminiscent of I think it was Alvin Kamara going out of bounds before the first down marker when we beat them in football a while back.

Re: Vanderbilt-Tennessee game thread
In the postgame radio show, what I understood Stack to say is that he thought we could get a 2 point play and when UT converged on Ezra, Ezra threw the bail-out pass to Lawrence. It sounded like he said the other players are used to being in particular spots in case another pass is needed, but I don't think a 3 was planned. So that seems like it is Manjon's timely pass helped to win the game (although it was something they had been coached to do through the season -- coaching through the year helped make that pass sort of an automatic move on the part of Ezra). Ezra gets credit; coaching this sort of pass and placement of players (such as where Lawrence knew to be) through the year did help.roanoke wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:05 pm I would love to know if that play was drawn up - personally I believe Manjon gets the credit for finding Tyrin. You want to beat a fellow vandy fan after we pull off a huge upset over a hated rival? You’re not a fan of anyone but yourselfVandy187187 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:04 pm

Thanks for sharing that. Yes - I was not diminishing the coaching. It just takes real stones to draw up a 3-touch play with 4.4 left. And Manjon had shown a speed advantage during the night. UT was there expecting his drive - the pass had some juice on it. Lawrence made a nice catch and shoot in rhythm. Not easy to do in under a second. And to your point, he was right where he was coached to be, I’m sure.memphisVUalum wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:11 pmIn the postgame radio show, what I understood Stack to say is that he thought we could get a 2 point play and when UT converged on Ezra, Ezra threw the bail-out pass to Lawrence. Agreed…stack knows what he is doing. Let’s rally around him and stop the nonsense. This team can compete well against highly ranked teams.
