P Nelson Berkwich reportedly in the transfer portal
He supposedly entered on Thursday, a day before the deadline to make intentions known.

Re: P Nelson Berkwich reportedly in the transfer portal
You have to remember that the #1 goal of these kids is to make it to the majors. If they can play under Corbin at Vanderbilt, that is just the pudding on the cake.
But the problem is if they are not among the top 7-8 pitchers by the end of their sophomore year, they are probably going to be recruited over and not play very much unless they transfer to another school. And they need to play every day to get better and noticed by the scouts. This is their dream and I don't fault them at all for going elsewhere where the chance to play is better.
An example of going somewhere that needed pitching is Dyan DeLucia of Ole Miss. He was JC transfer that really struggled badly during the first half of the year. He was kind of forced to pitch a lot and finally figured out what worked at this level, and by the end of the year had one of the best CWS ever. These kids are looking for the opportunity to play. Practicing with all the latest toys is nice, but one has to play against others to make the improvement needed to make it the bigs.

at vandy these days are there ANY baseball student-athletes who are there primarily to get a vu education to enhance their futures rather than primarily trying to chart a path to the bigs? just wondering....
