Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
I wish the radio broadcast was all static again. Listening to this mess is making me mad.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
very, very disappointing. our line reeks, we have no speed and no answers. and this is the worst team we will play all year. Feels like basketball all over again.
also, would have thought that lea would have had something up his sleeve. we looked listless and not very talented.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
But then we went back to long routes - and failed.
Scary Comparison to old staff adjusting too late - and then when the adjustment works, going back to what they wanted to do before. I hope we alter the ineffective offensive game plan at half. It will be interesting to see if we adjust or refuse to see the scheme problems and simply try to “play better.” If it is the latter, we could really lose this game. Which will pretty much bludgeon the Clark Lea era.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
They have 7 years worth of film from the Mason era. Same plays in the same situations; which is typical from defense first head coaches protecting "their guys" from being in the field too much.ChattaDore wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 7:49 pm However, it literally feels/looks like ETSU is in our huddle and knows every play call.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
Quick pass to the outside. Not 30 yds all the way to the opposite sideline.
Where is the make the defense defend the entire field. Quick short pass, pull the lbs out some and then continue running.
Seals gotta calm down and stop back peddling

In the stadium and not only is the team bad the music is way too loud. People in my section say they won't come back because canned music us loud and poor taste. The OA announcer us yelling and making a terrible fan experience unbearable. I won't be back Student section empty at halftime.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
Roanoke's "adjustments in the second half or not will tell the story" i think hits the nail on the head. Not sure how different this looks from a Mason team, other than the coach being a little more animated at the half--Lea seemed as listless as the team...hope for a better second half is all we got...and hope isn't a plan...
Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
The in-stadium announcer MUST GO!!! His guttural screams are horrible. Worse than the play of the team.

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
"A learning moment" screw that BS. Lea is a boring emotionless coach and reflects on the team. The team is silent and no emotion!! Maybe someone will fire them up here at halftime!! O-line and db's horrible play. Someone needs to step up on both sides and make some plays!!

Re: Vanderbilt-ETSU game thread
Three keys to the second half:
1. Line of scrimmage… what adjustments will be made to slow down ETSU’s pass rush and will the tackles successfully block down. Watch the tackles… not a good first half.
2. Defense scheme: secondary needs some help. Not even sure what to do here because we may lack talent.
3. Running game: must run outside the tackle
Passing game: wheel routes, pump and go… the middle at 7 yards is open.

This is worse than the Temple game.
That Temple team was a bowl team.
