Re: Jayson Gonzalez
Is it worth leaving school for being drafted in the 17th round? Not sure....

Re: Jayson Gonzalez
I believe Jayson DOES have another year of eligibility, because he was in the high school Class of 2017 with Hugh Fisher and Cooper Davis. All three would have been seniors this season in a real world, but "Covid Juniors" with the free pass that was given to all players. (That's why the MLB commentators referred to Murphy as a third-year freshman.)
The fact that Jayson sat out a year might give him one more season if that year was considered a redshirt. But I think he is best to turn pro now. The Bigs can offer up to $125,000 and he has the leverage of threatening to return to school. If they don't make a reasonable offer, we could see him back at Hawkins.
I like Jayson as one of our VandyBoys, but I don't think he is better than other VU third basemen such as Jason Esposito or Will Toffey. Jason is out of professional ball now and Toffey is struggling. Perhaps Jayson can make it.
