Unfortunately, the Reds appear incapable of giving him any run support.

The Reds pathetic bullpen is killing Sonny. Last night he had a 4-1 lead when he left. The bullpen gave up 4 runs. The Reds did score 2 to win in the 9th but Sonny got a no decision after the blown save.

Re: Sonny Gray hot in the months of June and July
So, I was at the Reds game in Milwaukee last night. Gray pitched well overall and worked his way out of a couple of jams. His line and note from ESPN: "Reds starter Sonny Gray went six innings and allowed just a run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. He's allowed two or fewer runs while working at least six innings in each of his last five starts." Fun to see Gray having success.
Vandyfan 888, I was thinking the same thing about the Reds' pitching, horrible. They lost the lead in the 8th to a rocket of a grandslam home run. It was set up by multiple pitchers. My son was with me and I said this is what happens when you've got no relief pitching. The 2nd HR by Suarez in the 9th totally bailed out the pitchers.
PS. It was my first time in Miller Park, and I enjoyed it. Nice place to watch a ballgame and nice folks there. Good selection of beer and sausages too.

My recollection is that they had their chance and passed on it.
Always hopeful; rarely optimistic. ![Anchor gold @GAD](./images/smilies/achorgold.gif)

I think they had a chance to make the transaction this past offseason. I doubt the Reds would trade him now. He's too good and they have control over him through 2013. On top of that, Derek Johnson is now his pitching coach.

Sonny is taking on the Pirates on Fox Sports Network and facing another Dore in Bryan Reynolds. On channel 1250 if you have Comcast in TN.
