Re: Looks like we're keeping Jack Leiter
Interesting article. If all that is true about Leiter, we will have another Special pitcher at Vandy. On the flip side, I`m sad to hear Volpe decided to take the money and go pro. However, $2.3 million is a lot of money, so I can`t begrudge him for that. I`m excited about Leiter!

I will agree with the BA take on this ...
... that suggests it is highly unlikely that Leiter will sign with the Yankees.

They can't just "not sign" some other guys to keep their pool money and give it to Leiter.
The Yankees drafted one college senior in the top 10 rounds (Round 8 / $161k slot). They could give him $5,000 and add $156k to the $125k allotted late-round draftees. Would Anthony Volpe take $1 million less to continue his career with high school buddy Leiter? I don't think so.
And Mizzou's T.J. Sikkema is not going to "take one for the team" by signing for far less than his $1.95 million slot.
Looks like Rocker, Hickman and Leiter in 2020!
