Freshmen
If you haven't watched any of the games, you need to sign on and watch these guys. Demarco and Martin now have 21 or 22 hits between them in 4 games. Guys, these two kids can hit. And Gonzalez is going to be a stud as well. Freshmen pitchers have looked good too. Looks to me like this COULD be a special year. Not to jinx them, but they are looking strong so far against a good Duke team and a decent Presbyterian pitcher.

Re: Freshmen
Agree with both of you. Very, very early, but there is reason to believe that this is a very special class. Over the weekend, I was thinking this could be one of the best groups of position players we have brought in, and after watching Hickman, Fisher, Schaller, and Brown, the pitchers could be just as good.

Re: Freshmen
I keep seeing freshmen interviewed after games. All our great teams have had freshmen that played key roles. This is refreshing.

Re: Freshmen
our freshmen are already playing like veterans - it is amazing how good they are and how good we should be for at least 3 years

Yeah, in baseball we don't have the one and done nonsense. Even the "stars" we are able to enjoy for 3 years minimum (except in redshirt or injury situations -- or transfers, of course).charlestonalum wrote:our freshmen are already playing like veterans - it is amazing how good they are and how good we should be for at least 3 years

Hopefully we'll have that in basketball in the future. Regardless, this freshman class looks great so far, and I certainly hope they can keep it upgeeznotagain wrote:Yeah, in baseball we don't have the one and done nonsense.
